So I heard my ortho say to his assisten that he was going to shave my teeth what does that mean?

Question:
what excatly are they going to do? is it painful? and do they do it before they put on the bracesor after when they take them off??

Answers:
It sounds like your orthodontist is planning to file / shave the edges of your teeth down so they all look straight and even after your braces come off. If they do not end up doing it you might wait a spell giving your retainers a chance to work and let your teeth to settle, then when you are at your general dentist for your cleaning and exam request that they do it if it's needed. They will probably smooth them with a round disc (looks like flexible disc that feels like a fine nail file) and a handpiece which will remove a small amount of enamel. This shouldn't be painful at all. Good luck!

They shave the bottom of your teeth to make them all even. No it doesnt hurt at all, and usually its done after the braces are taken off
