My orthodontist gave me a choice of what kind of braces I wanted, ceramic (the clear ones), or metal. I chose ceramic braces and I love em except they do get stained easily. But, however, your orthodontist will give you a choice. Just ask him/her for colored bands or whatever you want. They'll be happy to give it to you cause you're the one who has to wear it anyways and you might as well be as comfortable as possible. I am. Good luck.
Most orthodontist now are using brackets like the ones from the damon system. Not sure if they are all the same, but they are a WHOLE lot small than regulary metal brackets... which I might add, suck! I wore those things for 3 years! And now they have all this new stuff... but I dont think you really get much of a choice, it will probably depend greatly on your ortho. So if all else fails just simply ask to see them. But most of them have completely taking out the massive metal brackets that they were using!
i had braces a long time ago. and don't worry i doesn't hurt to get them on but your teeth will be a little sore. people wont even notice. But i am pretty sure your relative probably already told them what braces you want. so just ask them, but i would say that th braces that have clear brackets are the best, just make sure to brush them day&nigh or they well turn slight shade of yellow(ew i know ha) so just ask your relative and youll get the answer, and im pretty positive that you cnt change your mind which ones you want the day of because they already hav everthing ready so its find dont worry just worry about what icecream you want because its all worth it in the end... trustme : D
