Which is worse-spacers or braces?

Question:
i have spacers and people tell me they are worse than braces, but i'm not really sure. i want to know what to expect with braces.

Answers:
I just recently went from spacers to braces like this past monday and I say that braces are better than spacers cuz with braces you could put more pressure on your teeth than with spacers. Spacers are rubberbands and might pop if put to much pressure and braces are metal.. I am not sure if you are going to get the same as I did but. they put a metal ring around the tooth that has spacers next to each side. then they glue it on. it wont be bad at all. hope that helps
my braces hurt a lot more than spacers!
the same.
BRACES! U can barely see spacers first of all. i had spacers AND braces.
braces hurt a LOT tho..
when u get braces u cant eat-
lemons
lemonade
gum
candy
popcorn
chocolate
hard food
citrus
cotton candy
nothing small or hard or crunchy that will pop or get stuck in ur braces.

trust me, popped braces HURT like ANYTHING.

good luck, braces amateur =]]
I would have to say spacers! I have braces and they do hurt ALOT but most of my friends have had spacers and then braces and say spacers are a pain!
i had spacers for a few days or a week or something before i had braces. the spacers only hurt right when they were put in for like a split second and then they were fine. i never noticed them. braces were annoying for the first week because i started drooling a lot wich was gross but then i got used to it. and everyone says you cant eat all this stuff but i didnt listen to them and i chewed gum and had tootsie rolls and ate chips and crackers and i never broke a single bracket and i had braces for 2 1/2 years. braces really aren't a big deal and i loved picking new colors every month. they felt more like accessories for my mouth than anything.
don't worry about it...if it's not the spacers, they would make comments on braces, and if not that, then something...anything else!
It depends on if your teeth are crowded or not. If they are crowded the spacers willhurt a lot more than if they weren't because there is pressure on all the teeth. I personally thought the spacers were more painful than the braces but, braces are a lot more work.
spacers hurt like hell co they're bouncy and they hurt a lot when you chew...braces hurt for a few days but not as muchas spacers do...for me it was the same feeling but with my braces i could chew some stuff without feeling really bad pain...
Spacers are nothing, they only stay in a week to make a fraction of a centimeter of extra space between your molars for the bands to be put on. Bands are worse than spacers. Braces are nothing, really. The only worry is the complications you might get when they dentists are messing around trying to put things on and take things off, etc. Like with me, after they took my spacers out to put the bands on, they broke my bottom tooth by having me continuously keep biting down to sqeeze the band up over my top molar. Needless to say it wasn't fitting and then I had to wait even longer (a month longer) for them to fix my tooth (which I was charged for), put the spacers back in for another week, and then attempt the procedure again. My appointment is in 2 days, wish me luck.
