The "pre-med major" should have known to tell you to be sure to rinse really well after eating each time.
for a good 1hour
You should have been eating soft foods later on Friday night. Start out slow with stuff like mashed potatoes, soup, jell-o, pudding, apple sauce, or ice cream if you are a little timid to eat. Then slowly work your way up to harder foods that you would eat normally. Hope this helps. :-)
ummm.. just do what your doctor told ya. You hear?
You will want to eat soft foods. Avoid using straws in drinks because drinking thru a straw could cause you to lose any clot that has formed in the extraction site and that in turn would cause you have a "dry socket". A dry socket is more painful than any toothache you could experience. If you are concerned about bleeding, use a tea bag that has been moistened. Place it on the extraction site. Tea contains tannin which is helpful for healing. You could also drink tea...not too hot..not too cold. Do NOT rinse vigorously for the first 24 hrs . This again can cause a dry socket. Brush your remaining teeth very carefully. Take any pain reliever you normally take for a headache or muscle ache if you experience discomfort and you should do fine. Call your doctor if you experience excessive bleeding or more than mild discomfort.
You shouldn't eat until the numbness wears off and when it does, eat on the other side from where the tooth got pulled.
