Has anyone ever had a palatal expander?

Question:

i get mine taken out tomorrow and i was just wondering if its going to hurt and what is the whole process going to be like. what are they going to use to take it out? i've had it in for almost a year so let me know about your experiences! thanks!

I'm not sure if this is the same thing but i had a thing that widens your jaw for a year you would turn it every night if it is the same thing on the sides those things that stick out he will get plyers and take them off you will feel a little pressure and a little sore for a couple of hours but it really doesn't hurt.

Depending on which one you have, your orthodontist could do a couple of different things to take off your expander. For me, it was a wire expander that had springs. My orthodontist used clippers to cut it off and then shaved the sharp points down with his drill. It was completely painless and trust me it will be much more comfortable when you get it taken off...good luck!!
