Root canal & crown?
Question:
Answers:
when placing on a crown a "base" is shaped usually from the tooth itself. if the damage of the tooth to extensive a base can be made of other materials. the purpose of a root canal is to get rid of the tooths pulp (nerves and blood vessels) it is very unusual for a dentist to have to do a second root canal unless the tooth was broken severly and the material used to fill the empty pulp chamber was severly damaged as well. you can be put to sleep but the anastisa is very expensive.
I have been procrastinating the same surgery! Good Luck
I myself have had this done and it is not bad at all. After you have the crown put on it may take a little while to get used to it...for me it felt sort of weird for a while like when I bit down...but now I cannot even tell a difference
It is like starting all over again with the process...done without knocking you out, unless it is that severe. At least there was enough of the tooth left for a crown, instead of the much more expensive implant.
I have had this done and had no problems. The dentist did the root canal, and then put on a temporary crown. You'll go back in a few weeks and have the permanent crown put on. None of it hurt me, but if you are worried, talk to your dentist and see if he would be able to put you to sleep to help your nerves. Some dentists will give a patient who is apprehensive something to help them calm down. Talk to your dentist and see if they offer a Valium for nerves or the option to be put to sleep for the procedure. Your dentist will work with you to help make your visit less feared. Good Luck!
