How long can an abscess last?

Question:

Answers:
If you take antibiotics it will clear up the infection which will make the pain go away but it will come back and it will hurt like hell. The only way to make it go away and not come back is to have the tooth extracted or have a root canal done. Good Luck and I hope you feel better soon.
well if you dont fix it, it will only get worse they dont just go away
They don't go away once they reach abscess state. You need strong antibiotics pronto.
The abcess will not go away until you get a root cancal. Once the tooth is decayed to the point of abcess, it's too late. I developed one in 6th grade. My family had no insurance and my grandmother was convinced that putting peroxide on it would make it go away. Yeah, for a few days at a time, maybe a few weeks. But it never actually went away till I got a root canal when I was 19. So, like 7 years? Now I don't even have that tooth anymore because I waited so long. So my advice is to get it taken care of ASAP so you can save your tooth.
