Why is my jaw tense when I keep it completely closed?

Question:
I was thinking it was my wisdom teeth or my jaw alignment. It just feels like the back of my mouth, like the sides of my jaws get really uncomfortable. Why is that? Since its so uncomfortable, I just reposition it myself...slightly open.

Answers:
Perhaps your jaw is used to having your mouth open in a kind of 'O' shape for prolonged periods? lol
Why are you holding your jaw closed? You're clenching your teeth. i only did this as long as it took to read your question and my jaw muscles are already tired (which is why it hurts you).
I noticed it is more comfortable to open jaw about 5mm than to keep teeth completely together. As long as you keep your mouth shut perhaps this is the norm. Would not have noticed if you hadn't asked the question.
It is tense because you are clenching it. when your mouth is closed, the jaws should meet and rest together without any pressure at all. Any continuous pressure you apply to them will cause tenseness.
