Well, one thing if the band you mean, is the little rubber bands that are different colors not the one to align you teeth closer together, is missing over a tooth, then maybe the wire just cant reach that bracket or that other teeth are overlapping that tooth. I know because I had to wait 2 months on a tooth for this reason it is nothing to worry about. Oh and by not cut the wire short enough do you mean the end it poking you in the back of the mouth, if so then get some dental wax to put on it unless you already have some but its totally normal for that to happen you just have to wait until next visit. Oh and if the wire is really bothering you, you can take the eraser end of a pencil and bend it up or down to make it more comfortable or at least that's what my dentist told me if that ever occurs. Well, the best advice I can give you is that you just have to trust them and know they know what they are doing, wait a until after a few more appointments before you even think about leaving because by then you will already be able to see some difference in your teeth and if not then you should consider going to a different dentist but of course it all depends.
Ask your parents to provide you with tylenol or have your parents some how schedule you for a earlier time.
You may have a buccal tube instead of a molar band. Wires are left long enough for the expansion of your arch and short enough so you're cheeks won't get hurt as much. You can place an orthodontic wax over the wire (where it hurts) but not so often because that area is supposed to get thick in the future, it's also for your protection - yes, i know, you must go through a lot of discomfort but it only happens at the start of treatment. I'm sure your dentist did not mess up, he/she won't do anything to cause you unreasonable pain. For the meantime, avoid eating anything hard and if you must eat a sandwich or a burger, cut it into pieces before putting it in your mouth. Chew slowly.

You can get the orthodontic wax from your dentist, you can also check your local drug store. It comes in strips, take a piece of the strip, roll it into a ball and gently place it over the wire or brace. Don't worry if you swallow it, it's not harmful.
wow, sounds like the orthodontist you went to had no clue what he was doing.
hah

besides the point.

when i got my braces, they hurt for abour 5 days.
my orthodontist gave be some orajel pain reliever.

just put it on the gums of the teeth that hurt, and it should numb it.
i thought it worked very well, but it might not have the same effect on you, but it's worth a shot.

hope that helped!

um pain reliever is the only thing to do for pain besides just leave it and let it go away...try calling the dentist and see if they can put your band on and cut the wire shorter before september 6th it wont take that long to do that stuff
