Sore throat caused by wisdom tooth infection?

Question:
Is it common to get a sore throat when your wisdom tooth is infected? I'm on my second day of antibiotics, and while the pain from the infection has decreased, the sore throat isn't going away! My throat isn't sore on just one side either, but it feels as though it's in the middle of my throat. What's going on with my body?!

Answers:
Yes, some times a sore throat can be caused by a bacteria infection. From http://ailments.in/sorethroat.html...
Yes, any infection in the oral cavity may cause an infection to the surrounding area (e.g. tonsils - 2 pairs). Generally, antibiotics are to be taken for 3-5 days at most 7.

The pain in your midthroat may be what we call a referred pain. One pair of tonsils are located at the sides of the uvula (the v-shaped structure found hanging when we open our mouths). The other pair is just below it. Infection may occur in these areas, and you may find it difficult and painful to swallow.

Just continue with your antibiotics and drink lots of water.
