My jaw locks up occasionally...What does it mean?

Question:
Ok so my jaw locks up all the time when i put something in my mouth..like a popsicle or something big or when I chew it locks up and hurts extremly bad
Do you know what it means?

Answers:
It shouldn't be doing that; i don't know much about jaws, but that happens to me when i rotate mine around to like pop it you know? It does hurt, but it shouldn't be doing that if you're just using it; You should definatly get that checked out!
Good luck!
xx
Look up TMJ. It's your temporomandibular joint that is locking. Pretty common
You may suffer from TMJ. Or you may have tetanus. To play it safe see a doctor.
Maybe you just shouldn't force your jaw to open all the way. Try taking smaller bites.
Perhaps the disk in your TMJ has slipped. See your doctor for tests.

Hope that helps.
it is most likely that your TMJ is popping out of the socket. its not a good thing to do because of course it is painful and can wear down the cartilage and cause arthritis later on. go see a dentist who may be able to treat you. one of the things that may cause the TMJ to become sore is clenching or grinding your teeth. some people do this under stress, or in their sleep, so definately go have this checked out
i don't know what it is but my jaw does the same exact thing. my dentist said braces will fix it but i went to the ortho and they said med. couldn't cover it
