Laughing gas?

Question:
Okay so i have to go get a few fillings done, and since im scared of needles the dentist told my mom he'd give me laughing gas when doing them . Does the laughing gas just make you like more calm so you wont know when they use the needle to numb your mouth, or do they not numb it and the laughing gas just makes it so your not really all focused on it and stuff?

Answers:
It is supposed to make you go 'spacey' so your not so focused on what is going on. Although for many people is has no effect. Even if you have the gas you will still have a needle 'cause having a cavity filled without anesthetic can be painful. I would suggest talking to your dentist and let him know your concernd. Dental anesthetic needles and very thin and you barely feel them, there is no need to be scared. Close your eyes and take slow deep breathes, maybe take a stress ball or similliar to roll around in your hands to keep your mind of what the dentst is doing.

Good luck, you will be fine.
well, for me it does absolutely nothing, so i never get the laughing gas, its a waste of money...
for some ppl tho, it does help.
I loved the nitrous oxide gas, because I was so nervous that the doctor gave me the "laughing gas" and I was so totally relaxed and happy, that it calmed me down a lot. You are aware of your surroundings the whole time, just no longer nervous about it.
Yes, feels calming. I have always been afraid or anxious about seeing a dentist.
Yes they still numb the area so don't be afraid.

I highly recommend the laughing gas.
