How painful is surgery on my jaw?
I'm 16 and I finally went to the orthodontist, and he said just regular braces for 2 yrs. or I might need surgery to move my lower jaw forward a little (plus braces). I have to go back to school in like 2 weeks, so would I need like a cast after surgery or anything like that? How long til I can eat normally? I get ex rays tomorrow, so hopefully I dont need the surgery! just wondering though.
My son has 2 cavities on his front teeth. He is 3 years old.?
Answers:
No you will not have a cast on your jaw you may have a wrapping or jaw bandage around the jaw area but...they will wire your mouth shut most likely to prevent unneeded movements of the lower jaw. Eating wont take long at all 2-3 weeks at the most until your back to eating complete solid foods but between that time they will remove the wiring and test you on foods starting at very soft. Also the surgery will not be too painful you'll be in happy land for awhile but the after surgery does provide discomfort. Good Luck
