I am an Orthodontist and can probably help/guide you in the right direction. There can be several reasons for your problem. It is possible that your gums are not healthy and swollen. When you put the rubber bands the bands are pushing into you gums. The other reason can be that the bracket is loose. I would strongly suggest that you call or see your Orthodontist. Please do not listen to Erin. In some cases it is required to wear rubber bands full time and in some cases where minimal correction is required, the Orthodontist will tell you to wear them only at night only.
your braces are probably loose, get to your ortho right away
Braces rotten on 17th December =), does it HURT to seize it remove?
If it feels different then normal, then definitely check with your ortho.
i hate rubber bands too...mine makes the inside of my cheeks raw...i just wear mine at night, and it works just as well as all the time. you might want to try that, but if it still hurts, i would recommend contacting your ortho (just give them a call).
Braces aren't fun...
You need to wear them according to the direction that your ortho gave you. They know best.
In the mean time, try using some dental wax to cover the rubber band from irritating your gums. Use Orajel or another oral analgesic to relieve the localized discomfort. Also, you can try an nsaid such as ibuprofen or Tylenol.
If it bothers you enough, call or go back to the ortho. They can't get mad about your concern. It's better to catch a problem now before you end up having braces longer but remember that not following their directions can lead to you having to wearing the rubber bands longer. So deal with the pain now and reap the benefits later.
Good luck and I hope you feel better.
I am looking for a recipe for tooth patse.any imformation would be great?
If you have had to wear rubber bands for a while and this problem just started, then I'd contact your orthodontist. If you just got them, then give it a day or two. You can contact your ortho. if you have problems ever, so it wouldn't hurt to call just to make sure. If s/he says everything is fine, then try to wear them as much as you can, it speeds up the time you have your braces drasticly. I faithfully wore my rubberbands and I got my braces off around a 1/2 year early. Just keep with it and you'll be happy with the results! Good luck!
Why does my jowl click when I instigate and close my mouth, is that common?
I had that too, wear them as much as you can, because then your brackets get used to it. If you leave them off for a long period of time it hurts when you put them back on again. so I usually just eat with them in.
