Does anyone know if OTC nightguards are effective and safe to wear overnight? Do they work?

Question:
I went to see a doctor about my chronic tension headaches & he ordered some tests done to rule out any health reasons and well the tests came back normal. So what he told me is that I should be fitted for a nightguard because he thinks my headaches are being caused by teeth grinding. He did say they are pretty expensive if one doesn't have insurance so I was maybe wanting to try some of the over the counter ones that are available. Has anyone tried any of the OTC ones, do they work for headaches and which is the best brand out there? Thanks!

Answers:
They do work but are bulky and take some getting use to wearing. A professionally made night guard, will be much more comfortable which tends to be easier for you to adjust to and wear effectively. They do wonders for patients who grind or clench their teeth causing wear on the teeth, headaches along with causing TMJ problems. I hope I've been of help and good luck.
