Why are my teeth shifting?

Question:
I am in my thirties. what is the most common reason for my teeth to be shifting? What kind of procedure can be done to stop this from happening, and is it indicative of something more serious?

Answers:
Hi! I've been in dentistry for over 25 years. The most common reason for this is periodontal disease or non-erupting wisdom teeth. Severe grinding and clenching can also wear teeth down, loosen them and make them shift out of place. YOU must see a dentist to determine it any one of these are a factor. These are all easy to treat and a custom made mouth guard is the easiest remedy for grinding and clenching. I would bet that may be the biggest factor and most common for you if you have good hygiene. Consult a dental professional and get this under control now before you have bigger problems. If you have any other questions, please ask. Marie
