Should I wear my retainer??

Question:
Hello
Well, I havent been wearing my retainer for maybe about...3 months. I've tried to put it in, and I try to sleep in it, but the next morning, my mouth in super sore! I've already made an appointment for the dentist which is next week. I can take the pain, but is it good for my teeth? Or should I just wait till the dentist?
Thanks!

Answers:
that's totally normal. the more you wear it, the less sore it will be in the morning. you MUST wear it, or else all the good your braces did will come undone
Tell them to put the permanent retainers on you. They're not noticeable.
ooh, your dentist is going to be mad. All that time and money on braces and your letting your teeth go back to being crooked. Put the retainer back in and deal w/ it till you see him again. He'll readjust the retainer for you.
C wat d dentist sez coz he has a degree n can help u more den any1 here
I would definitely suggest you wear your retainer according to your dentist's orders. It is the most important part of the whole procedure! Personal experience! I can't understand why you didn't put them on for 3 months! If you are required to put them on for 8 hours every day, please do so otherwise your teeth would move back to their previous position and all the time you spent in braces(if you had them) would be in vain. It would feel bad at first but later you would appreciate the fact that you stuck to them!
I'm assuming you had braces? Your teeth have moved during those 3 months without wearing your retainer... You're noticing discomfort because of this. If you find the pain unbearable, don't wear them but get a new one made when you see the dentist/orthodontist next. Its a sign your teeth haven't "settled" in the new position and you need to still wear a retainer... It wont hurt after a few days of constant wear but each time you take it out and leave it out the pain will return upon wearing it... It wont harm your teeth as long as it still fits and you're not forcing it in...
Yes because if you don't teeth will get FUCKED UP and then no one will want to go near you theres a kid at my school the didn't were his and now its like he doesn't exist to anyone! Wear the damn thing it helps you teeth not look like you put gernedes in your mouth and pulled out the pins!
I suggest that you check with the dentist first before wearing the retainer again. Try to bring forward the appointment to an earlier date or call the clinic and check with the dental nurse to see the sore you have experienced is normal.
How long has it been since you got your braces off? If it has only been a few months or less then you need to wear it as much as you can stand to. You should just tough it out, it will be less and less sore the more you wear it. If you have had them off for a while then I would say only wear it while you sleep, you won't even notice the paid after you are asleep. However, it if starts to make sores in your mouth then I would just wait till you go to the dentist. My bottom retainer is shaped wrong and is causing a sore on my inner jaw but I still wear it everynight until my next appointment because I do not want to mess up all the work I had the last 2 years. Think about it, a little discomfort now, or braces again.yeah thats what I would choose too...
Wear the retainer. The more you wear it the pain will lessen and lessen until you have no pain at all. If you don't wear the retainer your teeth will go back to their crooked positions and all your money will go to waste sooo... WEAR THE RETAINER!!
