How bad is it to smoke if you had wisdom teeth pulled out?
Question:
Answers:
If you smoke you could disturb the healing of the clot and this would cause a dry socket which is very painful.
The problem with smoking after having a tooth pulled isn't what the smoke does to the wound. What happens is when you draw on the cig to get smoke...the suction created may pull the clot out of the wound and that would hurt a LOT.
My advice to you is to try not to smoke at all the first couple of days. However, being a former smoker I know how hard that is to do so try only to smoke every couple of hours. And when you do...don't pull on the cig very hard. Maybe try putting some gauze over the wound while you smoke and still, don't pull very hard.
i dont think it matters seeing as how everyone gets their wisdom teeth pulled and alot of people smoke.
The smoke isn't going to bother it. Why rub salt in a wound? Just an added note. I managed to quit smoking after 40 years. I smoked 2 packs or camels (unfiltered) a day. Cut back 1 a day till I was smoking 10 then went on the patch for close to six months. Why because I watched my older brother die from cancer. The fact he died wasn't what slapped me upside my head it was the pain he was in. He was taking Oxy conten, Oxy Cordon, and Morphine and still he was in intense pain. I know, I'll shut up and go away.
