How do you make the swelling go down after getting your wisdom teeth taken out?
Question:
Answers:
Try putting a small used teabag on it.
have an icecream or put a cold compress on it! if you're in pain you could take a painkiller preferably acetominophen compounds.
hope you get better!
Put something cold on it. Theres not really much you can do though...
If I recall it took about 2 weeks, just make sure you are careful brushing as not to irritate the stiches. Also do alot of swishing with warm water and salt it surely helps clean and ease the pain a bit. jello, ice cream, milkshakes foods of that nature were my fav. its funny feeling the stiches with your tongue but they should dissolve in time. keep in mind you have holes underneath that can get infected so try to swish after each meal or snack to be safe. if you feel extra pain or get a fever it could be a sign of infection so contact your specialist asap
I had this problem as well. I was really swollen. Keep a cold compress on it and drink cold things. Smoothies, cold water, eat cold jello. Make sure you don't use a straw when drinking any of those because that is what causes dry socket and that is something that you most defiantly don't want.
There's really nothing you can do except wait it out. Take tylenol 3 for pain and hang out. It took me about 2 days for the swelling to completley to go away.
Painkillers or just but some ice next to the gum for around 20-30 mins or a little bit more
Rinse with worm salt water
You do not provide enough information. How long ago did you have your teeth removed?
An hour ago or two? Apply external ice packs. Ice works better before the swelling occurs not as well after swelling.
If it has been a couple days? Then normally swelling peaks on the 3rd day and then normally begins to go down after that. Sometimes mild heat may be of some help but that may also make it more uncomfortable. Usually you have a window of opportunity to put on ice packs at the beginning but you lose it if you did not do that.
If it has been a week or longer? You may have a secondary infection and you need to see your surgeon for evaluation.
As a rule, when in doubt, CALL the surgeon who did the surgery to see if what you are experiencing is normal for your surgery.
Hold some water with little salt, do not gargle, put some ice on the swelling area.
You should only have wisdom teeth removed by an oral & maxillofacial surgeon. Go to http://www.oceansurgical.com.au/... to find out more on post-operative care. I recommend piroxicam 20mg every day for 10 days after surgery tor educe swelling
