I got mine taken out and i was scarred of the same thing. It dosnt hurt at all though. seriously dont worry. First they will put nitrus over your nose which will numb your hole body. it fell like a tiny pintch, and then your passed out, and when you wake up its all over and out. Its not as scarry as it sounds. Just make sure after its done not to smoke or drink out of a straw because it will make you get dry sockets, and those will hurt. But the ohter stuff will be a piece of cake. good luck
Why are they giving you an iv? I had my wisdom teeth out,with no iv, they just knocked me out with gas.
Anyway, ivs don't hurt really - just a pinch for a second. Just look away, while they insert it and remember to breathe. You'll be fine.

I got all four out on Tuesday, the needle is such a tiny little pinch and before you know it you are out in dream land. Good luck, the IV is nothing, its the healing part that sucks.
Its just a small pinch, the bellybutton thing would hurt a lot more than an IV.
Once its in you can not feel it at all, so its not like a continues pain, just a small pinch when it first goes in.
Try not to focus on it. :-)
I got my wisdom teeth out 2 weeks ago and the IV feels just like a pinch. It's not bad at all so don't be scared. Worst part about of the whole thing is not being able to eat real food for a few days.

i relly dont know but i had my gum tissue removed yesterday by my ortho but he gave me gas and a numbing shot.
I got my wisdom teeth out a couple months ago, and I was more scared than you could imagine. I had an IV, and it doesn't hurt that bad at all, I thought it would hurt really bad. The only thing is if you get the anesthesia injected into the IV, (sometimes they just use it to give you water) you most likely will feel it go up your veins and into your lungs...many people experience that. But it's not nearly as bad, at least not for me. I can'g give you much other advice if you are staying awak during the proceure but I'm guessing your being put to sleep. It's really not painful when they put the IV in, so dont worry about it. Good Luck!
