Getting braces off questions?

Question:
I'm getting my braces off tomorrow at 11 (I've had them since the summer before 5th grade & next week I am going to be a freshman). When I was little, I had complications and had to take alot of medication which stained my teeth a yellowish tint - I've also lost some enamel. I did my best to brush twice a day since I've gotten them and have done a pretty good job. But when I get them off, will my teeth be MORE yellowish? Or is there something I can buy (like Crest Whitestrips) that can help me build the enamel back up?

Also, how long does it take to get braces off? Does it hurt?

Answers:
Your teeth will be around the same color as they were before. My teeth were whenever I got my braces off. Crest Whitestrips work VERY well, but can irritate your teeth if theyre are sensitive, but they work wonders.

As for getting braces off, it doesn't hurt at all. The only thing that hurt a tiny bit, was them getting the glue they use to keep the braces on, off. It takes maybe 5 minutes tops for it to be done, I didn't even have any idea it was done when they said rinse your mouth out. There will most likely be blood in your mouth when you rinse out, but thats normal, and trust me, nothing is wrong and you aren't cut anywhere. Your gums will be swollen for a couple of days though and it will feel awkward but you'll be fine. Good luck!
the braces come off fairly quickly and usually the doctor wil;l suggest for you to go see a dentist for proper cleaning and anything that needs fixed sometimes the teeth are whiter where the braces where if they was coated right
Enamel, unfortunately, can never really be put back. However, after your braces are off, cleaning will be easier because you won't have those hard to reach areas to deal with. Whatever yellow has built up can probably be done away with. You should probably get a professional cleaning once they are of and then brush/floss regularly. You'll be fine.

A little bit of pressure is felt when the braces come off, but you should be ok, no real pain. May take awhile to get off, but not forever long.
Taking the braces off doesn't take long at all. Your orthodontist will clean your teeth up pretty good. The whitestrips would be a quick fix for whitening but Will NOT help the enamel. Your dentist can probably put a sealent on your teeth which will be costly but probably worth it since you are still young. For a long term whitening I would use the Listerine Whitening Pre Rinse, my husband smokes and it helps him alot when he uses. Hope this helps.
My teeth are alot whiter than they were when i had my braces put on 9 months ago and now like you i want to know about everyone's experience of getting them off since i have 6 months to go.However my orthodontist is also my regular dentist and wants to whiten my teeth professionally. I am afraid of having yellow dots. That is an option you should discuss with your regular dentist because i've read and heard so many people discuss the sensitivity in their teeth increase by using the strips and trays. Good luck with the debracing.
oh my gosh me too im in the same situation except i got my braces in the summer after 6th grade. im getting my braces off tomorrow at 10:15 though... id like to see the answers
buy some liquid calcium. the link below is the kind i use and it's 2500 parts per million compared to the usual 1500. it's just really tiny calcium particles in distilled water. put drops of that on your teeth and it WILL repair your enamel & reduce sensitivity. liquid calcium is what's in those "repairing" toothpastes that they've been researching for years, but i seriously doubt it's any good when it's in a toothpaste and what they were researching was probably the cheapest way they could make it and how to market it while only having a tiny amount of actual liquid calcium in it.

it's a really good supplement, too, you can put it under your tongue and it gets absorbed directly into the bloodstream.

as for whitening, check out supersmile. http://www.supersmile.com it's a little pricey. i got a toothpaste set at bath and body works for like 40 dollars i think, but it's the most amazing product ever. and that's about how much crest white strips are anyway. it completely whitens your teeth unlike any whitening toothpaste. also, you can rinse you mouth with hydrogen peroxide. it's really cheap and will definitely whiten your teeth over time.
well lucky u!!
im gettin braces and i have a longgg way to go..good luck to u!
