Each case is different and it all depends on how bad your teeth were and how well they move. In general, rubber bands are used near the end of treatment. I don't know what a power chain is. It was three years ago that I had mine taken off. I remember that in the beginning I had springs inbetween certain teeth to push them away from each other. About rubber bands: I hated them!! Very painful. Be thankful you haven't had them yet.
I thought everyone got rubber bands. I've had my braces for 6 years and from the moment I got them I've had rubber bands.
omg! i am getting braces next monday! i am getting rubber bands with mine too!! they come seperate u take them off to eat but i am not sure if u take them off 4 brushing teeth i will have to get back wit u on that one!

i think everyone gets them.. they gave them to me.. and i never wore them.. actually i did sometimes but not always.. they didnt really help... but my teeth ended up straight at the end.. lol.. but now theyre all messed up cuz i never wore my retainers..! advice for you in the future: ALWAYS wear ur retainers! hehe xx tc
When I had braces for which seemed an eternity, I had o-chains, or o-rings is what they called them. They have a method to their madness (the Doctor), so I'm sure when he's ready to put them on he will. Good luck!
Just a little advice from someone who had to get them partially on twice. Wear your retainer like you are supposed to when you get your braces off. I didn't so when I was in my 20's my bottom teeth were shifting like crazy. I paid to get them on my bottom six teeth again. Now I have strait teeth again and a semi-permanent retainer bonded to the back of my bottom six teeth. I probably would've saved myself the trouble if I would have worn my retainer properly.
