Lasering part of my gums away?

Question:
My gums go too far down over my teeth making them look tiny. So the dentist has recommended getting part of my gums lasored off. Has anyone had this done to them? How bad was it?

Answers:
It won't be too bad. It's a relative simple procedure as long as its done correctly. You will have some discomfort but usually not too bad. Is your dentist doing it or is he sending you to a periodontist?
This is a reliably safe procedure that usually makes a significant improvement in the way your mouth looks. As with any medical procedure, you should have it performed by someone who does this specific procedure often and well. There are many general dentists that can do a fabulous job, but specially trained dentists called periodontists are usually best at it. That is a generality, mind you, your dentist may be better than a periodontist. You should ask him/her how many of these procedures they have done and maybe ask if they have any before and after pictures of cases he or she has done so you can see their work.
