do scars from thyroid lobectomy surgery take long to heal in black women who dont keiloid?

Question: I recently had this surgery and I am now having doubts concerning the possibility of scarring.
Answers:
I am not a black woman, but am indian, but I usually scar really easily.I had my thyroid removed last February and was very self conscious about the scar. I wore turtlenecks for months. Eventually, I decided that I could not keep it up forever. I now wear normal clothes and the only people that notice my scar are people who have also had there thyroid removed. The scar is gradually shrinking down into my wrinkles on my neck. My doctor told me to keep it covered from sunlight for 1 yr.sunscreen just on that area will be fine. I hope this helps.
