Pain in the calf can be caused by numerous things. You really should see a Dr about it. I used to work in a nursing home. little things become more serious as we age. Please don't wait to see a dr.
I personally have experienced it for: pulled muscles, inflamation due to other conditions, blood clot, sciatica (pinched nerve at the base of the spine), and leg cramps (due to low potassium).
When I had the blood clot I was unable to walk w/o severe pain. I then had a couple weeks of constant leg cramps. I am now experiencing inflamation of my veins that makes it hard for me to stand or sit for long. What you describe sounds a LOT like what I have been going through.

Coul be deep venous thrombosis. This is adangerous condition that can lead to lung embolous that is possibly deadly. Visit a doctor immediately. (I am not guessing)
Are you on medication? Do you take a "water pill"? If you take Lasix or another form of diuretic, you potassium could be too low.
You need to be checked for vascular disease. It could be intermittant claudication.
