Why does my skin break out in response to allergens?

Question: Does anyone know why my citrus/fruit acid allergies come out in as pimples on the on skin my face ? (I'm 50!). And why in Autumn, when the wattles, paperbarks and grasses are blooming do they also make my facial skin break out? What can be done about halting this?
