Do places like LensCrafter and JC Penny Optometry or Costco Optometry require insurance for exam, etc.?

Question: I have insurance at Kaiser but it doesnt cover my glasses. If I buy them there, they are ridiculously expensive compared to the low prices I see elsewhere. Please help!
Answers:
They shouldn't as long as you have another way to pay. They are still happy to receive cash directly from patients. Check to see if you are eligible for any government aid programs if cost is an issue.
