What does it mean when you bleed but you're not on your period?

It could be a number of things and for me it was scar tissue from prior cervical cancer surgery. It attaches and detaches itself throughout the months so it may be a little or a lot but it's usually much darker and foul smelling than your regular period. You may or may not notice the smell but I went crazy over the idea that I might be smelling that foul and I guess just the idea that you have something that needs to be cleaned away will drive us women nuts anyway...it ruined sex for me for quite a while and I can't tell you how much I wanted a D & C but I was always denied and offered hormone therapy, which I am glad I never took. I'm 47 now and very active with a reoccurrence of that in between bleeding only once in a while. I suggest to you to ask more questions of your doctors, get second and even third opinions and don't be unneccesarily afraid. Our bodies are truly amazing in how they clean and work themselves . Best wishes for good professional advice in the future. Seek it, you'll find it.

if you have had unprotected sex recently it could be implantation bleeding. that means you could be pregnant.
It means you need to see your gynecologist asap. Might be nothing, but it also a sign of something you don't want to ignore. You need a pap test or pet test.
