along with the other answers that the others have given,stress can cause ridges in your nails.

Iron deficiency anemia causes ridges on nails.But at that severe anemia you must be having breathlessness and other symptoms.
Maby a diabetes.
Low zinc. Take some multi-vitamins and indeed they will not appear again :)
