Why aren't words like handsome, pretty, beautiful, etc. used anymore. About all I hear nowadays is how HOT someone is or cute.
Answers:
Because the youth of today have a very limited vocabulary. They tend to use nothing but slang if they can help it.

i still use pretty.. We use it the south a lot but here it is perty . and a guy an be perty to me too.. even if he is a rough as the malboro man..lol

i still use all those words. call me oldfashioned, or a hopeless romantic but calling my girlfriend "hot" just isn't the same as telling her how beautiful she is.
