Can I wear a light colored (pastel blue) shirt and khaki pants to an evening event?

Question:

Answers:
It really depends on the dress code of the event, more than the time of day. I would find that out from the event organizer before deciding what to wear.

Other Answers:
yes it sounds really good.
Depends on the shirt. Is it pressed nicely? Is it short or long sleeve. You are describing business casual attire. Do you know if others will be dressed similarly?

What kind of event are you attending? Please edit your question with more details.

Most evening events if professional would be slacks and jacket as a minimum. But you would have to know the event to verify.
No. Wear darker slacks and a sports jacket. If it's a more casual event you can wear a shirt without a tie or a turtleneck. Otherwise, go with a tie.
Darker colors are best for evening events. Save the light stuff for daytime.
If it is indeed an "evening event" then I would have to say no. If it is a very informal social gathering like happy hour then, wear whatever you like. Darker colors on men are more appropriate for formal or dressy events. If it falls somewhere in between the two, doesn't require a tie.then a nice pair of dark trousers with a turtleneck and a sports coat would be nice. Or substitute the turtleneck for a polo-style shirt.for an even more casual look.
