This is a pregnancy/ menstruation cycle question.?

Question: I have a menstruation/ pregnancy question. I was on the pill for 4 years after having two children. Dr. took me off the pill in late Nov. for unexplained high blood pressure. Since then I've had 2 periods, the first cycle was 39 days, the second was 29 days. I have not had a period since January 21. I took a HPT about two weeks ago and it was negative. I have been tired, a little nauseated (only a couple of days, sporadically), but I have also gained weight, broke out with acne, and just feel "not like myself". Also have had pain in my abdomen and feel like I have a UTI. I am thinking I am pregnant, but don't know why it won't show up on a test. Also, with my daughter (first pregnancy) it started the same way, with a UTI and/ or yeast infection (can't remember exactly).when I went to the dr. about that, got a blood test and was pg. Anyone else start a pg that way? I don't want to keep buying hpt's, but I don't have a dr. or health insurance right now, so I don't know what to do!

Your local health department will give you a pregnancy test and check you out for little or no fee depending on your income. You need to be checked, pregnancy is not always the cause of missed periods.

Your symptoms are most likely related to hormonal imbalance. It may take a while for your regular periods to be reestablished after stopping the birth control pills. HPT are extremly sensitive nowadays but a blood test would be the most certain way to help resolve that concern. UTIs can complicate pregnancy but would not explain your weight gain.Insurance or not , if your problems continue you will need to talk to and see a doctor.

Some women never show a positive on a urine pregnancy test. The only sure fire way to determine this is with a blood test.

You might call your ob/gyn and explain what is going on. They'll have you come in for a blood test..and if that shows negative, provide you with a check up.

Either way.you need to get to the bottom of what is going on, because you should have had a period by now.
