Is drinking beverages in plastic containers a hazard to your health ?

Question: Ive heard that is not the best idea to purchase too much stuff in plastic containers. Because the plastic tends to leach into the water or whatever is contained in it ? Any truth to this ? Everything comes in plastic today.
Answers:
If you re-use the plastic bottles, you'd have to wash them in hot water. Washing in hot water starts to break down the plastic. (Just like cooking in plastic in the microwave eventually breaks the plastic down). Just drinking from a new container doesn't hurt you.

I never heard of that. What about plastic pop bottles? I drink lots of soda and I never have a problem like that.
