no it doesnt, i have a friend who is sevearly diabetic he has type 1 diabetes. type 1 diabetics typically have problems gaining weight(he is very skrawny)also diffrent diabetics have to take diffrent types of insulin, my friend not only has to inject insulin to raise his blood sugar he also has to inject something else(not sure) to lower it.his blood sugar can vary from as low as 100 all the way up to 2000,he is about to lose his foot due to circulation problems. he is classified as a "fragile Diabetic" meaning that his blood sugar levals require constant and high maintence.even that doesnt seem enough some days.the weight issue is more of situation that depends upon the individuals type of diabetes and their body chemistry.
