I dont quite know if you can check a doctors background. You might be blocked by privacy laws although as consumers, we are entitled to find out.
The best way to check out a doctors history, I think is by talking to the patients they treat.by either sitting in the waiting room and talking to local patients.
You could always Google them and see what feedback you get.
