is purple salvia the same as salvia from mexico?

Question:

Answers:
The sage family is a huge one. Even mint is in this family.
The ones you are talking about are two different ones. With the Mexican, I presume you are talking about salvia divinorum, that's the one you can hallucinate from.
The family is the same, the plants are very different.

On this site you see pics of the purple sage:

don't think so
No, purple salvia if I'm not mistaken is ordered online; mexican salvia is different. Same with salvia from local headshops.
Salvia 'Purple Majesty': ‘Purple Majesty’ is similar to Salvia guaranitica, but has purple flowers and is a larger and more robust plant. It grows well in partial shade.

Mexican Bush Sage (Salvia leucantha): Spectacular purple and white velvety flower spikes cover the plant from late summer until frost. Salvia leucantha does well in full sun and heat, and tolerates some drought. It is hardy only on the coast, and even there may die in some winters. It is usually grown as an annual because of its speed and ease of growth. Hummingbirds and butterflies love this plant.
