Hycet oral solution (hydrocodone bitartrate and acetaminophen) is a CIII narcotic indicated for the treatment of moderate to moderately severe pain. Each 15 - mL dose of hycet provides 7.5 mg of hydrocodone and 325 mg of acetaminophen. As a result, hycet offers the lowest level of acetaminophen per dose of any liquid narcotic combination product. This may allow healthcare providers to expand the range of patients they treat and increase hydrocodone dosing flexibility.

Hycet offers:

* proven pain relief of hydrocodone
* the lowest level of acetaminophen in a liquid narcotic combination product
* tropical fruit punch flavor

The most common side effects associated with hydrocodone/acetaminophen are abdominal pain, dizziness, light-headedness, nausea, shortness of breath, unusual tiredness, or vomiting. hycet contains hydrocodone which, in high doses or certain patients, may cause dose-related respiratory depression or irregular breathing. Infants may have increased sensitivity to these respiratory depressant effects. As with any narcotic, special caution should be used when prescribing hydrocodone to elderly or debilitated patients, as well as individuals with impaired hepatic or renal function, hypothyroidism, Addison’s disease, prostatic hypertrophy, or urethral stricture. Caution should also be exercised with patients who are likely to take other acetaminophen-containing medications.

Hydrocodone can produce drug dependence and has the potential for being abused.
