Hi!Alternative Therapies really work at most of the circumstances.I experienced the wonders of Siddha,Homoeopathy,Acupressure and Acupuncture,Bach Flower Remedies and Pranic Healing each of the system under various circumstances.
If you want any clarification you can visit the WHO website for the list of such systems and the conditions for which they are approved for. Thanks for sharing my experience.

Surprisingly some of these alternative medicines do work and in some cases better then the normal medicinals. But even hypnosis or placibos have been known to cure people. It is really a matter of...If you believe enough that it will cure you.
Acupuncture with Chinese herbal remedies on 3 occasions. Each time it has been very successful on problems from sports injuries to a long term sinus problem
I deal with a chronic illness that I have only recently started using alternative therapies and medicines for... and am feeling better than I have in a long time. Now, will these treatments help me indefinitely? I don't know... but for now, they are working wonderfully... and I feel great about the fact taht I'm not pumping my body full of chemically manipulated ingredients that cause side-effects that are sometimes worse than the condition itself.
Yes I have. I had a accident years ago which caused me to have my legs pinned. I used to suffer from cramps and muscle pain in that leg. For years I took very strong pain killers to dull the pain but they were working les and less as the time went on. So a friend of mine suggested acupuncture and massage therapy, which was a little expensive but seemed to work (not sure the acupuncture did but the massage therapy did) and now I now longer suffer......
What you need to remember or ask yourself how did people cure themselves in the old days before medicine as we know it was around! Natural remedies! They do work and have been for century's! I have nothing against medicine but do feel herbs are good for you! Best thing to do is see a herbalist or a homoeopath! they can give you what you need for your problem! Also what you need to remember is that you do need the right dose! Alot of the products we find on the selves are far to low for a recommended treatment and thus you would have to take about 6 pills just for the herb to be effective! Good luck and give it ago!
I've tried homeopathy on myself, my toddler and my dog with no positive effect; all the treatments were prescribed by practitioners including my old vet; who was also a trained homeopath. I didn't self prescribe because I don't know anything about how to do it.
I've also tried Bach flower remedies, again with no effect.
But I used to work in a shop that sold over 700 different herbs and spices, and I got really interested in them. I collected loads of recipes and started reading up about herbal remedies.
Valium comes originally from Valerian root, but there's a difference between them. Valium is addictive and easy to take. Its the nearest chemical equivalent to the active ingredient in Valerian root, so its cheap and easy to synthesise. But Valerian root is disgusting to take and non addictive.
Its the same with aspirin, originally you would have used the inner bark of white willow to treat a headache.
So its clear that plants have active chemicals in them, but you do need to learn how to use them safely.
I was really sceptical about aromatherapy, until I learned that rosemary oil can be used as an appetite stimulant, and orange and tangerine oil are good for nausea. All these are helpful to cancer patients going through treatment. You can try the rosemary on yourself, if you sniff the oil your stomach will rumble.
I think that stress and poor diet make people ill, and a positive attitude help people recover, or stay well longer if the condition is incurable.
Yes, Mark T, some of them really do well, infact even better than conventional medicine. I am practicing Ayurveda (Indian Herbal Medicine) for last 15 years, and I have found this science very effective, although there is a lot of more research to be done. If you have any particular problem to enquire, I'll feel happy to help. Dr. Aurora, bliss7in@yahoo.co.in
Yes, it may work for a time, but it is not an effective treatment and it is not a cure.
Interesting you should ask that. I just saw this article yesterday:
Source: Garvan Institute of Medical Research
Reports of a traditional Chinese medicine having beneficial effects for people suffering from type 2 diabetes now has some scientific evidence to back up the claims. A collaboration between Chinese, Korean, and Australian scientists at Sydney's Garvan Institute, has revealed that the natural plant product berberine could be a valuable new treatment.
Berberine is found in the roots and bark of a number of plants used for medicinal purposes including wound healing and treatment of diarrhoea. It has also been documented in Chinese literature as having a glucose lowering effect when administered to people with diabetes; yet, until now, its mode of action was unknown.
Garvan scientist Dr Jiming Ye says: "Our studies in animal models of diabetes show that berberine acts in part by activating an enzyme in the muscle and liver that is involved in improving sensitivity of the tissue to insulin -- this in turn helps lower blood sugar levels. In addition, it seems berberine can help reduce body weight".
Current medicines for treating type 2 diabetes include metformin and the TZD group of drugs. However, a large number of patients cannot tolerate metformin and the TZDs can cause undesirable weight gain. Therefore, it is critical to develop new therapies to treat type 2 diabetes, which is a growing health problem.
"Berberine has been used for decades, if not centuries, with few reported side effects. Given the limitations of existing medicines we are excited to have evidence that berberine may be a helpful new treatment for type 2 diabetes; however, despite its widespread use in traditional medicine practices, it will still have to be evaluated properly following the defined clinical trials process", said Professor James, head of the Garvan's Diabetes & Obesity Research Program and co-author of the Diabetes paper.
The next step is to investigate how berberine activates the enzyme that mediates these 'insulin-sensitising' effects.
This study will be published in the August issue of 'Diabetes'. The title is: Berberine, a natural plant product, activates AMP-activated protein kinase with beneficial metabolic effects in diabetic and insulin resistant states.
nope
I go to a Chinese herbalist. She is a professor of Western medicine and treats any condition with herbs. I have recommended her to my ex boss who had extremely high blood pressure and associated problems. Her blood pressure was almost instantly normalised. She carried on taking the medication for a year and now she Say's she feels like a new woman. The hospital were going to put hr on steroids. She probably would have been dead by now.
She also treated and cured members of my family for eczema and asthma. Any condition you can think of she can help reverse the disease within your body.
She was even in the Times Newspaper for curing Diabetes in a little girl.
I think she is very clever and would rather go to her as her diagnosis is much quicker than a doctor and her medication actually cures and does not just mask the symptoms like synthesised medicine from the doctors.
I have seen that not only do Ayurvedic Medicines work well ,the effects also last . Moreover the theory about them revolves around lifestyles and diet and hence there is a holistic approach to it. I took treatment for extreme lethargy and sleepiness during day time and the results were evident within a week. But I had followed the diet norms strictly as prescribed.
Moreover there are many published proofs of the effects of Sudarshan Kriya , a breathing technique taught by the Art of Living foundation , on Depression , Diabetes and Blood Pressure.
I also did a course in PRanic healing and its results are promising. One just has to google for it to see the first hand experiences.
So , in short , yes there are alternative medicines that do work . There is a lot in this visible world than we can ever grasp in our lifetimes. But to get the right treatment at the right time might be more a matter of luck.
Read testimonials and info on my page.
Alternative therapies do work provided the person/ doctor giving the therapy is a person who has got in depth knowledge of the system.
The following types of alternate therapies are available under profession guidance in India, who had studied human anatomy as well as the alternate system of medicine.
a. Naturopathy.
b. Ayurveda, Siddha and Unani.
c. Homeopathy.
The first one, naturopathy is taught at Osmania University and no internal medicine is used for the person to be treated but external applications are used with mud, oil, sun bath, sauna, cold water bath for selected areas etc.
My own experience with the spinal cord bath when my BP was 160/110 was that after fifteen minutes, it came to 140/105 with lot of relief. With other exercise and change in the way of life, the hypertension was gone.
One of the naturopathy doctor with whom I had interacted informed that Ayurveda, if treatment is taken from qualified people is capable of doing wonders, including real rejuvenation. My opinion is that ayruveda and siddha are equivalent but the texts are in sanskrit and tamil languages respectively.
I had seen excellent results with Homeopathy for my friends but coming to the specific medicine is a real challenge. In this, the medicine do not produce the results but triggers the body to react as if large amounts of chemicals are invading the body resulting in production of chemicals beneficial to the treatment of the illness. But todays Homeopathic doctors have to find the constitutional medicine for a person and give but many are trying with two or more medicines which is an incorrect practice.
over the years I have used homeopathy, acupuncture, herbs, aromatherapy, chinese medicine, all from professionals and it is so good that I feel that if my regular doctor is stumped I go to an alternative healer AND GET RESULTS. the only reason that i go to my regular doctor first is for a diagnosis and I dont pay one red cent for it
I have had Reiki done and it cured my type I diabetes. I do hypnosis and it seems to work.
Just read a couple articles on this website: www.pampami.co.uk
