i have it done a lot since 18 and i am now over 50. I probably have taken no less than 100 sessions. generally, it does not hurt but there is a tingling sensation when the doctor twists the needle. after that, it really relaxes you. it is not true, there is no pain after that. but i had one session where i had pain for a few days. it was just one out of a hundred, probably that the acupunturist i saw was half a quack and needled me in the wrong place. i had needles on my head and near my eyes and heart before. absolutely 100% painless and safe. go try it. i am still doing it. just make sure the needles are new ones though or better still, bring your own. needles which are not clean may give you AIDS. Be sure to visit a doctor that uses new needles. those boiled and reused. i am not sure it is 100% AIDS proof, especially if the santinization process is not thoroughly done properly

I have never had it done, but I was thinking about it because I have heard from others that no, it does not hurt, and that it really helps! Good luck if you get it! yes after it hurt for 4 day the most i had 2 of them

tried it once - it didnt hurt but also didnt do much for the injury either!

somebody sticking needles in you does it hurt WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK idiot I hate needles,but had it didn't hurt me at all.I wish I had the money to do it more often.

From what I've heard, it doesn't hurt. Accupuncture needles are very small and are inserted into nerve junctions and clusters to stimulate them or block the nerve impulse.
I've talked to a couple of people about it, and it was effective for them. I use a TENS unit the VA gave me to help ease the pain in my lower back due to damaged lumbar discs. A TENS unit uses neuro-muscular stimulation to do much the same thing with out the needles, which I HATE ! After having annesthetic injected directly into nerve bundles to kill pain for a few years, I can do with out any more needles !

Personal experiance. Acupuncture shouldn't hurt. It might, especially if you're tense and/or injured, or if the person doing it is inexperienced.

Effective for what? It is very effective at helping your body restore it's natural ability to heal. It helps that process. But it isn't a cure, like westerners think of cures. it's not a pill that actively combats symptoms.

Most people who have acupuncture, go regularly. like car tune-ups. It makes you healthier overall and heal faster. If you go to a beginner there is a little possibility. But so many doctors either operate a opposite organ or forget a napkin in.
It is not that much bad.
It is the best way to have a treatment on non infectious diseases from a skilled acupuncturist. Many times beginners don't know pin points and you don't get desired results. Eventhen it is the best treatment instead of eating medicines unnecessarily.
