How do you get rid of a cough?

Question:
I have this constant tickle in my throat that makes me cough. It is worse at night when I lay down to sleep. The cough makes my eyes water and my nose run. I have tried warm water gargles, over the counter cough medicine, Benedryl, Zicam cough mist, but nothing seems to work.

Do you know of anything that works?

Answers:
Try drinking a 1/2 lemon squeezed into water one daily. It helps clean out your system. Also, add raw onions and garlic to your diet. They help burn out congestion. Make sure you get your vitamin C. Black pepper in food or tea is another congestion breaker. Good luck! :-)

Other Answers:
some nice hot tea with honey and a warm scarf should work

Benadryl is very good,or you can try macinex, over the counter. Its expensive like 12.00 us, but its worth it.Then tickle that you feel is part of the drainage. If you don't want macinex then get benadryl allergy relieve. Dude, you might want 2 get that checked out, sounds like it could be sleeping pneumonia. I had the same thing, it will gradually get worse and worse and regular cough medicines won't suppress it. i being a pharmacist i think ur sufferin 4m dry cough so i can advise u for anti-tussive medicines like codiene or methadone or diamorphine syrups.it will work. or go wid GRILINCTUS-BM its a bronchodilator n mucolytic.

Getting a doctor to look at what causes the tickle in the throat sounds like it is the way to solve thisp roblem. Could it be post-nasal drip? If you do have that, would it be allergic in nature.
Coughs are tricky things to sort out yourself. You are better off to ask for advice from someone about these. A teaspoon of honey with salt on top.
Make sure the air isn't too dry - humidify if necessary.
