I have noticed that in some countries coughing is habitual for cultural reasons.
if you are one of those that think asthma and Attention Deficit Disorder are diseases you probably can't get rid of your cough.
otherwise, you may obtain some relief by drinking spring water.
forget the eight glasses crap, it's too much. from half to one litre daily is adequate. avoid foods high in sugar.
Altoid Peppermints: Chewing two Altoid peppermints helps alleviate a nagging cough. The peppermint clears the phlegm and relieves congestion.
Heinz Apple Cider Vinegar, Tabasco Pepper Sauce, and SueBee Honey: To relieve a nagging cough from a cold, mix 1/2 cup Heinz Apple Cider Vinegar, 1/2 cup water, 1 teaspoon Tabasco Pepper Sauce and 4 teaspoons SueBee Honey. Take 1 tabelspoon when your cough acts up. Take another tablespoon at bedtime. (Honey should not be fed to infants under one year of age.)
ReaLemon, Star Olive Oil, and SueBee Honey: Mix 4 tabelspoons ReaLemon juice, 1/2 cup Star Olive Oil, and 1 cup SueBeeHoney. Warm the mixture, then stir vigorously for 2 minutes. Take 1 teaspoon every 2 hours. (Again, no honey to children under one.)
SueBee Honey and ReaLemon: Mis 1 tablespoon SueBee Honey and 1 tablespoon ReaLemon lemon juice in a small glass of warm water and sip the solution. For a stronger concoction, combine egual parts SueBee Honey and ReaLemon, and take 1 teaspoon at bedtime. Both mixtures help loosen phlegm. (Once more I warn you about the dangers of feeding honey to children under 1.)
York Peppermint Pattie: Eating a York Peppermint pattie may help relieve a cough. The peppermint clears phlegm and congestion.
Mix one part whiskey and 1 part water with sugar and lemon juice is said to relieve a cough.
Eat watercress in your salad.
Or you can try the more herbal approach.
Rub your throat with a little eucalyptus oil.
Slippery Elm Tea: To make the tea mis 2 teaspoons of slippery elm into 1 cup of boiling water. Boil for 10-15 minutes, and sip.
Quiet Cough Tea: 2 parts of marsh mallow, 2 parts coltsfoot, 2 parts hyssop, and 1 part licorice. Add 1 to 2 teaspoons of this mix into 1 cup boiling water. Let steep for 20 minutes, strain and sip while warm.
Mix equal parts of apple cider vinegar, lemon juice, and honey. Take 1 tablespoon every 3-4 hours. My grandmother used to give this to me, and it helped every time!
