No, unfortunately, Valerian makes me really anxious.
You might try taking a break from them for 5-7 days each month. Your body develops a tolerance to herbal supplements just like it can to aspirin, or alcohol, to the point where you have to take a lot more to get the same effect. Taking a break once a month will help with that.
If you really feel that you're addicted, try taking your first break over the weekend or during a time when sleep isn't quite as important.
As far as other side effects, it can cause heart palpatations and nervousness in some individuals (I fall into the "nervousness" category), but if you've been taking them for this long with no problems, I wouldn't worry about the heart palpatations so much. Just come off them for a bit every once in awhile; you should be fine.

Yes. Just try getting on a regular sleep regimen and schedule to help regulate the sleep pattern. Try not to sleep too long because this can make your body think it has not had enough sleep when it has actually had too much. I sleep much more soundly and for longer periods when taking the valerian (i drink a tea that contains it).This is great because it ended a 5 year bout with insomnia. Best wishes!
Try having a warm bath with four drops of Vetiver essential oil before bedtime. It's the best natural way I know to promote natural sleep. Not Lavender as too much can be stimulating.

Your body has become dependant on the Valerian! You need to switch your herbal sleep aid for awhile.
I have used it for twenty-five years. It is great for insomnia and also in a smaller dose it can be used as an anti- anxiety helper.
I used to. It's OK there is no harm but it won't effect you as much. You shall give a break and start again if it is SO NECESSARY.

No I do not use it but it grows in my garden like a weed, it is everywhere. A very cottage garden plant.
