Alternative drugs???

Question: I am using prednisone for more than a year. I am using for my athritis! any safer alternative drug that i can have that does not requires doctor's prescription?

I've used that evil substance off and on for about 20 years now and am always asking for alternatives-to no avail.
If you can deal with the pain, I'd stay away from that med, I'm sure you know it ca have some pretty nasty long term side effects. Smoking pot has less side effect, maybe you can try some Kava, although you can use this long term, only occasionally
