Are there any natural/homeopathic remedies for baby's ear infection?

Question:
last night baby was tugging at his right ear & had a restless night w/ mild fever. The only other symptom was his constant rubbing of the right eye and a yellowish secretion from that eye-- similar in consistency to the normal eye secretion a person has when waking up in the morning-- just more of it. This morning, he has none of the symptoms and is acting normal, as if nothing had happened....

I would suggest the all natural product Optiflora (Two-Product System with Prebiotic & Probiotic). It may seem a bit strange but by creating healthier intestinal bacteria will help fight this type of problem.

The Prebiotic powder you mix in four ounces of water and has a very pleasant taste.

The Probiotic is contained in a tiny B-B size capsule. I don't know how hold your little is but if not old enough to swallow yet can be placed in some warm water to soften it a bit.

This advanced, two-product system uses new technology to protect beneficial microflora during the rigors of shipping, storage, and the acidic journey through the stomach. Other products claim live microflora at the time of manufacture, this product guarantees the delivery of live microflora to your colon.

Good for all ages and this is one product that actually works better on a empty stomach - can adjust the powder accordingly.

By keeping the microflora in balance can obtain relief from many conditions including, but not limited to, ear infections, sinus & allergy problems, acne, flu, yeast infections, etc.

Similasin Earache Relief Drops. You should be able to get it at any drugstore. It has always worked wonders for my 2 and 4 year olds. Good Luck!
It sounds like that is some kind of infection, and I doubt that there are any natural concoctions for that.

However, for mild discomfort, my grandmother always used olive oil dripped into the ear canal. Seemed to work...dont' ask me how! lol

Good luck!
Make sure when feeding the child they are not laying down but at somewhat of an incline and never give them cereal from a bottle
Don't put the baby to bed with a bottle of milk to suck on or anything with any kind of sweetners. Babies ear canals are much shorter and this makes them prone to ear infections. Feed them in your lap with head raised or let them sit up if they are old enough. When in the bed or crib only water. This ought to cut down on your problem. Ear infections can be dangerous, if you suspect your baby has one he or she needs to see a doctor. It could go into their brain.
I have been told by my GP that childrens ear infections are not 'cured' any faster on antibiotics than children who receive no treatment so I applaud you wanting to use alternative therapies.

I have heard of people using colloidal silver - DON'T USE THIS. It is reported to work for a number of E.N &T problems but I recently learnt of a woman who used it in her childhood and was "poisoned" by it. Her pigmentation was affected and her skin went grey.

I'm sorry I can't offer a therapy but I wanted to warn against this particular method.
I just got over a ear infection and swimmers ear...I went to the doctor got the drops and antibiotic. But, after three days I was still having the pain that I was before I'd even taken the meds. I called the nurse and she suggested I dilute vinegar with water (equal amounts) and let that sit in my ear for 3 minutes. I did it and it helped me a lot. She said that it balanced the PH in my ear canal? I don't know if it was that or if it was the medicine, but I think it worked! Earaches are a horrible thing to have and even though your child is normal during the day it may not mean that he is OK the worst pain is always at night, but when your entertained and doing something during the day it doesn't hurt as much. I would suggest either going to the doctor. If you do not have insurance you can go to a free clinic call around...there are some everywhere.
