Are taking these vitamins to much?

Question:
I take one of these daily: Vitamin A&D, E, C, Lysine, Omega-3 Fish Oil, and a Multi-vitamin. I think this might be overdoing it. Please give me your feedback.

Answers:
Vitamins A, D, E, and K are fat-soluble vitamins. This means that once they are ingested, they "dissolve" into our lipid (fat) cell membranes where they stay. An excess of these vitamins can pose a serious health risk because they can't dissolve back out into the blood and be expelled via urine. All other vitamins are water-soluble, which means that they can be flushed from the body.

So I wouldn't recommend taking vitamins A, D, and E PLUS a multivitamin that may already contain them. Eating a well rounded diet that consists of fruits, vegetables, nuts/seeds, and whole grains is the best way to get all the essentials that our bodies need.

Other Answers:
Taking an overdose means giving the body vitamins and minerals in a quantity greater than is necessary. Excess of a particular vitamin or mineral can pose risks as serious to health as a deficiency of that nutrient. Nutrients are interrelated and an excess of one nutrient can upset the balance the body requires of other nutrients. A variety of healthful foods eaten in moderation will likely supply the body with the nutrients it needs. Usually a vitamin/mineral supplement is not necessary.
Excess use of vitamin causes hypervitaminosis. It may result in weakening of the bones and swelling of the body. It depends on what vitamin is taken in excess. Water soluble vitamins pass out through urine but fat soluble vitamins tend to get stored in the liver, which is harmful.
Although you don't say how much of each you are taking, the vitamins themselves are all good ones. I would say - just check the labels and don't go over the recommended dosages.
