Does anyone buy herbs from a mail-order catalog that they would recommened?

Question:

Answers:
Think of herbs like drugs. The herb people will tell you they are not drugs, of course, but you take them to help with a problem, just like medicines. So you should think of them that way.

Do you have a problem? If not, you don't need herbs or traditional medicines. Are you taking medicine for some medical problem? Then you should definitely NOT take any herbs without checking with your doctor. You don't want to overdo it. You may need to reduce your medicine or adjust the timing of the dosage.

But assuming that you have some reason to take herbs, and nothing to conflict with, some of them can be very helpful. I take garlic for cardiac issues, and I have had amazing results from cinnamon. Yes, plain old cinnamon. It seems to regulate blood sugar and also lower bad cholesterol. There are even studies that demonstrate its effect. But you don't need to go to some fancy mail-order house for cinnamon. Plain old supermarket verieties are what were in the research anyway.
