Reiki, anyone?

I'm looking for information on learning Reiki. I want to talk to someone one on one, if there's anyone willing.

To learn Reiki, you need training - above and beyond just the attunement. The attunements themselves do very little. In Traditional Japanese Reiki the 'attunement' process did not give the student the ability to do Reiki - learning it from a teacher, study, and practice did. In todays world, we are often told that all we need to do is become attuned and we will be able to do Reiki - not true. Having the tools but not knowing how to work with them does you very little. Without the training behind it, the attunements themselves actually do very little. Find yourself a good instructor locally and get yourself real one on one training.

Getting an attunement without the training and one on one learning experience behind it could be equated with having someone handing you the keys to a car and telling you to drive when you have never even seen a car before. There is a lot in Reiki that you need to be taught, things just an attunement cannot give you.

I do not believe an attunement can be given over a distance nor do I believe in attunement tapes. The attunement is a transmission of knowledge and a linage transmission, both of which are to be held sacred. IMHO, these things cannot fully be appreciated or understood through a TV set.

Barbara Emerson has a book and 3 vhs tapes on the attunements that can be purchased through amazon.com. I have taken first and second level attunements. First level is to heal yourself, second to heal others one on one, and by long distance- that is sending your energy to them mentally, and third level is to become a master so that you can give the attunements. Only a master can attune.
