any cure for hay fever?
Question:
i have a very bad hayfever; sneezing, itchy throat, watery eyes, runny nose. i'm a nurse, and i do look more ill than my patients. i am taking regular medication (Chlorpheniramine Maleate), but it seems to me, its not quite sufficient. any suggestions?
Answers:
Hayfever is triggered when your immune system reacts to something that it shouldn't i.e. pollen. You need to take anti-inflammatory substances to reduce the inflammation response that is produced by the immune system when you are exposed to pollen. There is not one straight answer because everybody is different, but omega 3 fatty acids from oily fish, nuts and seeds, and from taking a good quality fish oil (not cod liver oil) is likely to help. Also vitamin C, and quercetin are important as they are anti inflammatory, as is curcumin. You can get these nutrients from food, but you need them at therapeutic levels so it is recommended that you take them in supplement forms. Ask at your local independant health shop.
