when i was younger I would practice thinking of nothing at all. it's pretty tough, but the point is you're so busy thinking of nothing at all that you aren't really thinking of anything important. stare at a white patch of wall if it helps.

You could try "point" meditation. It's focussing on one specific point then trying to clear your mind.
If you have more time, then you could try "activated" meditation. You first try "normal" meditation and practice/program a specific gesture/move that will allow you to reach the meditative state quicker.
A good example being the "lotus" stance and touching the tips of your thumb and index finger.
