Everyone in my house is asleep and I just burned myself?

I leaned over a ceramic hair straightener and it burnt my elbow in a straight line, like the skin is peeling on both sides. Is there any household item I can put on it bymyself? Does this sound major enough to wake someone up?

I need a homemade recipe for allergy free toilet deodoriser and freshener.?

i'm a nurse in trauma icu...

do not put ANY food products, oils,or lotions on the burn!! these will all trap heat inside and can cause infection...

wash it well with warm water and mild soap-soaps with dyes or perfumes in it can irritate the burn.

apply aloe vera lotion to the burn and cover it with gauze wrap if you have it-if not then leave it open to air after applying the aloe vera gel. you can wrap it in a washcloth if that's all you have. this will help keep new germs out of the burn area.

if the burn is forming a blister or starts to drain liquid then i would wake someone for a trip to the e.r-these are signs of a second degree burn and you'll need silvadene cream to treat it-only a doctor can provide you with this.

for pain take ibuprofen. 200-400mg every 6 hours but no more than 1200mg in 24 hours. you can also take tylenol-same dose but the ibuprofen has an anti-inflammatory in it to help reduce swelling.

make an appointment with in 24 hours to see your doctor so he can make sure you are not showing any signs of infection and to also make sure you don't need special cream to treat the burn.

good luck to you and try to relax and get some sleep-it doesn't sound as bad as i'm sure it looks!!
